FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne Police are investigating a report of shots fired that stemmed from an alleged argument between employees at the Dana plant early Saturday morning.

According to a release from FWPD, officers began investigating just before 12:45 a.m. The report indicated a fight led to at least one shot being fired inside the auto parts manufacturer plant on West State Boulevard.

As it was initially unclear if it was an active shooter situation, the plant was evacuated and police began looking for the suspect and any potential victims. According to the release, video surveillance showed the suspect leaving the building after the shooting before police arrived.

Management told police that two employees had gotten into a verbal confrontation. One of the workers allegedly went to their car to get a handgun and confronted the other employee again, during which a shot was fired.

No one was injured, police said in the release, adding that the victim was “uncooperative”.

Charges are pending, according to FWPD.

A representative for the union, USW Local 903, said union president Greg Martin can’t provide any comments or a statement because it is still an active investigation.

Dana released a statement in regards to the incident. In the statement, Dana indicated that an employee had been fired as a result of the incident.

In regards to the incident on April 13, an altercation did occur between two employees at the Dana Incorporated facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  No injuries were reported and the parties involved left the facility.  The incident was reported to the local police. We take employee safety seriously and have safety protocols in place. The employment of one of the individuals has been terminated. Dana prohibits guns or other deadly weapons on our property as permitted under state law.
