On Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Yuma County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested and booked Mark Pierson into the Yuma County Detention Center.
The 54-year-old Yuma man was charged with sexual abuse, sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a child, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
The investigation began with a welfare check on a newborn who had not received medical care and was reportedly born inside a home in the 9200 Block of E. Armada Drive. During the investigation, it was revealed the mother of the newborn was a minor.
Investigators discovered the juvenile was reported as a run-away out of California. She had been entered into the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in 2020 and has since been located by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
The newborn was turned over to the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
