The Tennessee Titans have routinely had one of the older initial 53-man rosters the past few years, but exactly how far back does that trend go?
We get our answer from The Orange and Brown Report’s Anthony Reinhard, who took a look at the average age of every NFL team’s initial 53-man roster since 2013 and put it in a nice, neat chart for us.
Other than the 2015 campaign when the Titans had the sixth-youngest roster in the NFL, Tennessee’s rosters have regularly been on the older side as compared to the rest of the league.
Here’s the rundown (note: the higher the ranking, the older the team):
2013: 14th
2014: 9th
2015: 27th
2016: 12th
2017: 8th
2018: 11th
2019: 3rd
2020: 4th
2021: 7th

Having an older roster has been a recipe for regular-season success for the Titans, as they’ve posted a winning record in each of the last six years.
In the aforementioned 2015 season when the Titans had the sixth-youngest roster, the team finished with a 3-13 record.
Having some age didn’t help the Titans in the two years prior to that, though, as Tennessee ranked 14th and ninth in 2013 and 2014, respectively, and finished with records of 7-9 and 2-14.
The Titans parted ways with a handful of players 30 and over this offseason, so they might be a little younger than they were last year, but we still expect Tennessee’s initial 53-man roster to be on the older side.
