Interim Hinsdale Dist. 86 Superintendent Linda Yonke resigns

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 interim-superintendent Linda Yonke announced she is resigning her temporary lead role with the district on Friday.

Yonke was hired as co-interim-superintendent alongside Raymond Lechner at the start of the 2023-24 school year following the tumultuous departure of then Superintendent Tammy Prentiss.

Yonke and Lechner were hired by the school board in July, due to their combined 45 years of experience in school administration.

The pair were expected to work for one year as the school board conducts a “confidential search” for the district’s top job, keeping the names of candidates anonymous until the board publicly discloses them.

Yonke, who served half her anticipated time in Hinsdale, could not be reached for comment by the time of publication, but wrote an email officially announcing her resignation to school district faculty Thursday.

“I have truly enjoyed serving alongside you and learning from you in the past five months,” she said in the email. “You are an incredibly talented group of professionals who work tirelessly to meet students’ needs and to support the success of every student. I greatly respect and admire all of you, and want to thank you for all that you do on behalf of our students, schools, district, and community.”

The school board is set to accept Yonke’s letter of resignation during its regular action meeting Thursday evening.

“The board is currently discussing next steps and will keep the community updated on those efforts,” Director of Communications for Hinsdale District 86 Chris Jasculca said in an email response to questions by the Doings.
