A 31-year-old man was charged Thursday with attempt murder in a November attack where he was accused of hitting a 61-year-old man multiple times with an object before robbing him, cops said.

Stephan Stevens of the 11600 block of South Wallace Street also was charged with one count of armed robbery, armed habitual criminal, possession of a stolen firearm, and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, police said.

Stevens was arrested Wednesday by police and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force at his address. When Stevens was arrested two firearms were recovered, police said.

He also was identified as the person who struck a victim multiple times in the head on Nov. 9 in the 9400 block of South Sangamon Street in the Brainerd neighborhood. After battering the 61-year-old man he robbed the victim of his property, police said.
