Conveniently situated on I-45, adjacent to Conroe, Spring, and The Woodlands, Shenandoah provides a great value for those looking for a place to stay in the North Houston area. It also has a lot to offer for a city of its size—home to five shopping centers, several family-friendly entertainment venues, more than 50 restaurants, and 12 quality hotels (including new Aloft, EVEN, and Hyatt House hotels that opened in 2021), Shenandoah’s great amenities provide visitors with a variety of options when considering things to see and do, whether you’re looking for an afternoon excursion, weekend getaway, or extended stay.

In Shenandoah, shopping choices abound with the city’s five retail shopping centers. Earlier this year, Portofino Shopping Center opened new Adidas and Cycle Gear stores, and a Buy Buy Baby should be opening soon (in December) that will be new to our North Houston area.  Just up the road, at Metropark Square, a new Daiso store just celebrated its grand opening October 29–30, 2022. Additionally, Picket Fences, a locally-owned furniture, home decor, floral and specialty gift store, renowned for its beautiful and upscale offerings, will be celebrating it’s Holiday Open House November 4–5, from 10 am to 6 pm—an event you won’t want to miss!

Foodies will appreciate the breadth of the city’s dining scene and restaurant offerings in Shenandoah.  Restaurateurs provide a variety of cuisines, dining experiences, and price points, whether you’re looking for something quick and casual, or a more sophisticated, fine dining adventure you might enjoy at Killen’s Steakhouse, with two-time James Beard semifinalist Ronnie Killen.

One of Shenandoah’s newest restaurants is Goode Co. Fish Camp. Its inspiration is the Texas Coast, and what you’ll there is what you’ll find at their new restaurant: raw oysters, whole fish, and folks who know that full flavor comes from the freshest catch.

Recent additions to our restaurant offerings include, Jax Burgers, Crawfish Café (just named Best Crawfish in Houston by the Houston Press), The Pho Fix, and Goode Co. Fish Camp, the first location for this new concept from Goode Co. Other concepts that will be coming to Shenandoah in 2023 include Adriatic Café, Gloria’s Latin Cuisine, Dolly Llama (an LA bubble waffle dessert concept), and a mochi donut shop going into the Research Plaza Shopping Center.

Several of our local restaurants will be providing extra value on gift cards this holiday season, and many provide both take-out and dine-in options for the holidays—and don’t forget specialty shops like Hebert’s Specialty Meats, renowned for its diverse Cajun offerings ranging from boudin balls to Turducken, or Tiff’s Treats, whose just-pulled-from-the-oven warm desserts make a great last-minute thank you gift item when you’re busy and “on the run.”

Entertainment options include a state-of-the-art AMC cineplex with IMAX, Dave & Buster’s, Main Event and an Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park. When you’re looking for something fun for the entire family can enjoy together, these attractions provide diverse, indoor, family-friendly entertainment options. If getting back to nature is more your style, Shenandoah and the surrounding area has options for that as well—outdoor enthusiasts can connect with nature as they explore the W.G. Jones State Forest or George Mitchell Nature Preserve, just minutes away, and Shenandoah’s City Park with it’s array of beautiful trees, outdoor play equipment, tennis and pickle ball courts, soccer field, and splash pad provides lots of amenities for individuals and families to enjoy.
