A flash flood warning was issued for southeastern Cook County and Will County until 9:45 a.m. as scattered storms continue to move through the area, weather officials said.

Officials said between 2 to 4 inches of rain has fallen, and at least 2 inches of additional rain was expected in southeast Cook and Will counties. National Weather Service officials said flash flooding is expected and said doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain across the warned areas.

While the rain was starting to clear in some areas, more scattered thunderstorms are expected late Wednesday night, officials said.

There is a slight chance of winds up to 50 mph and large hail up to a quarter in size.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport is overcast at 72 degrees, and at Midway Airport conditions are light rain at 70 degrees.

Highs in the 80s was expected Wednesday.
