The Pueblo County coroner on Saturday identified the two men who died at the Comanche power plant after being buried in a pile of coal.
Kyle Bussey, 28, of Pueblo and Phillip Roberts, 36, of Canon City died in the accident Friday, Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter announced Saturday. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Both Bussey and Roberts worked for Savage, a company that contracts with Xcel Energy to operate the coal yard at the plant.
Both men were buried in about 60 feet of coal about 8:40 a.m. Friday at the Comanche Generating Station. A 911 caller described the incident as a landslide, fire spokesman Erik Duran previously said. The incident occurred at an outdoor “feeder pile” for the furnaces.
Rescue efforts began immediately but the men’s bodies weren’t recovered until Friday afternoon.
