A man died after being shot in a northbound lane of Interstate 94 Saturday morning, according to state police.

Illinois State Police responded to a shooting near 130th Street at 11:40 a.m. Paramedics transported a 27-year-old man who had been shot to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead there at 12:18 p.m., according to information provided by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The agency did not release the man’s name or cause and manner of death as of Sunday morning.

Northbound lanes of I-94 near 130th Street were closed shortly after 12:30 p.m. for an investigation, with traffic diverted east at 130th Street. Lanes have since reopened.
