San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies responding to a missing persons report encountered a strange scene: Her home, apparently untouched “for a number of years,” with her vehicle still parked out front.
On April 26, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Santa Margarita, a small town about 10 miles north of San Luis Obispo, to make contact with Lisa Laviano. Laviano, 59, was reported missing by a friend who hadn’t heard from her in five years. The friend had recently dropped by Laviano’s home and became concerned when it appeared the woman had up and vanished.
Deputies were perplexed to find Laviano’s truck parked in the driveway. “Her belongings inside the residence were undisturbed,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. The friend told authorities that Laviano may have moved to Sacramento or Washington state, but deputies haven’t been able to find her in Sacramento.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Sacramento Police Department last made contact with Laviano in 2019; it did not explain why police contacted her three years ago.
Laviano is white, 5-foot-3 and 125 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, and she also goes by Lee. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office at 805-781-4550.
