To spread a message of peace and hope through the streets of Little Village this summer, the St. Agnes of Bohemia Catholic Church is again hitting the pavement to celebrate Mass.

The Little Village church at 2651 S. Central Park Ave. is putting on street Masses every Tuesday and Thursday through the start of August to uplift the community, pray and spread messages of peace against violence during a time of year when crime is traditionally higher.

The first two street Masses were held Tuesday and Thursday on Ridgeway Avenue and St. Louis Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets, respectively.

The Masses begin at 7 p.m. following a rosary service. Each Mass is held in different areas of neighborhood streets near the church. Streets are blocked off from traffic.

Those interested in attending can bring their own folding chairs. No reservations are required. Street Masses will be conducted in Spanish.

The schedule and location of the next street masses are:

  • Tuesday — Trumbull Avenue between 30th and 31st Streets.
  • Thursday — Spaulding Avenue between 26th and 27th Streets.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 1 — Homan Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets.
