A man wounded in an overnight shooting outside Rivers Casino in Des Plaines is now recovering at a nearby hospital, according to authorities.

The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, flagged down a Des Plaines police officer patrolling the casino parking lot at 3000 S. River Rd. just after 12:50 a.m. Saturday, Des Plaines police said.

The officer provided first aid for the wound, which police described as non life threatening. Des Plaines fire department personnel took the victim to a nearby hospital.

Des Plaines police said they are still investigating the incident, but have identified two people associated with the shooting.

Rivers Casino has been no stranger to violent encounters this year. In March, several victims were robbed at gunpoint in the casino parking lot. Another series of armed robberies took place in the same parking lot in October.
