Grand Rapids — Kent County Prosecutor Christopher Becker said his office plans to review the death of Black motorist Patrick Lyoya once Michigan State Police conclude an investigation and that he doesn’t expect to ask the state attorney general for help.

Michigan Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel last week offered assistance to Becker if he “determines the expertise of my department is warranted” after Lyoya was shot in the back of the head last week by a Grand Rapids police officer during a traffic stop.
