LAWRENCE, Ind. — Officials with the Lawrence Police Department announced that an arrest has been made in relation to the triple homicide that occurred on April 12.
According to a news release from the department, 24-year-old Malik Shaw, an Indianapolis resident, was arrested and charged with three counts of murder, as well as an unrelated warrant, on Monday.
This comes after three individuals were shot and killed at a Lawrence apartment complex on Friday evening, including:
- Aaliyah Wortman, 19, from Marion
- Londyn Coleman, 19, from Warsaw
- Spencer Lawson Jr., 27, from Indianapolis
“This uncalled for heinous crime should not occur in any community, but thanks to the diligent work of our investigators and the collaboration of multiple agencies, we have made a significant breakthrough in the case,” the release said. “…While an arrest has been made, the investigation is far from over. We are committed to uncovering any other individuals behind these crimes and will continue to work diligently until all those responsible are brought to justice.”
Officials said this arrest stemmed from a “coordinated effort between law enforcement agencies,” including the Lawrence Police Department, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force.
