INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department made an arrest in a homicide case on Friday. Police reported that their investigation of the incident lasted 14 months.

According to a press release, police arrested 40-year-old Andrea Woods for murder. IMPD took her into custody in the 4600 block of Edwardian Circle — located on the northwest side of the Circle City — with assistance from its Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.

The shooting Woods was involved in happened on Jan. 27, 2023. Brittany Allen, a 33-year-old, died during the incident.

Previous reporting indicates Allen was answering a door in the 9500 block of Village Way — located near 96th Street and Interstate 69 — when she was shot.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make final charging decisions in Woods’ case.
