Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene is calling on fans to continue to show their support for the team after the Reds lost nine straight games by a combined score of 59-18.Greene posted on Twitter Thursday calling Reds fans to come out for the latest home series.The Reds had an off day on Thursday but will take on the St. Louis Cardinals Friday through Sunday.”I want to see a sea of Red! We got a lot of games left and we need your support, it means more than you know!” Greene tweeted.So far this season, the Reds own the worst record in baseball at 2-11.On Opening Day, Cincinnati Reds President and COO Phil Castellini responded to some of the comments he made earlier to fans who have had criticisms of moves made during this past offseason.”The answer is, ‘Are you going to abandon being a Reds fan? Are you going to abandon following this team?’ We haven’t abandoned it. We haven’t abandoned investing in the team and this community,” Castellini said in an interview at the ballpark.”The point is, how about everybody just settle down and celebrate and cheer for the team. You can hate on us all you want we’re not going anywhere we haven’t abandoned our commitment to winning and investing in this franchise and in this community so the point is, stay tuned and be a fan, celebrate these guys, and look at what they did in Atlanta and come out and celebrate what they did here today,” Castellini added.Castellini later issued a formal apology to Reds fans saying he regrets the comments he made earlier.’We love this city, we love this team, and we love our fans.
