750 Moffett Blvd in Sunnyale is one of the buildings where Google has put office space on the sublease market.
Google StreetviewGoogle has put more than 1.4 million square feet of office space in Silicon Valley on the sublease market, as first reported by the San Francisco Business Times. Reducing its Bay Area real estate holdings is part of the tech company’s efforts to reassess its global real estate footprint, reported earlier this year.
The listings include 190,000 square feet at 600 Clyde Ave. in Mountain View, 151,000 square feet at 620 National Ave. in Mountain View, 26,615 square feet at 1215 Bordeaux Dr. in Sunnyvale, 222,000 square feet at 750 Moffett Blvd. in Mountain View and more than 736,000 square feet at the company’s Moffett Park campus in Sunnyvale.
Much of the space for lease is currently unoccupied, a Google spokesperson confirmed to SFGATE.
“As we work to ensure that our real estate investments match the needs of our hybrid workforce, we’re ending leases for a number of unoccupied spaces,” the spokesperson said in a statement to SFGATE. “We remain committed to our longstanding presence in the Bay Area and investing in the local community.”
Despite downsizing in the Bay Area, Google is moving forward with its plans for a major development in San Jose. Even though claims made by anonymous sources familiar with Google’s massive “Downtown West” mixed-use plan said the construction project is on hold, the tech giant disputed the assertion. The property, which was expected to break ground this year, is expected to include more than 4,000 housing units, 15 acres of parks, 7.3 million square feet of office space and 500,000 square feet of “retail, culture and arts” space.
