Phil Ventimiglia, vice president of Instructional Innovation and Technology, was recognized last week by the Technology Association of Georgia.
ATLANTA—Georgia State University’s chief innovation officer has received statewide recognition as a Tech Leader of the Year.
Phil Ventimiglia, vice president of Instructional Innovation and Technology, received the award Feb. 17 from the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) in the nonprofit/government/education category.
TAG, which has more than 31,000 members statewide, works to advance Georgia’s innovation economy and promote inclusive technology. Its Tech Leader of the Year Awards recognize leaders in public- and private-sector organizations.
“It takes extraordinary leadership and vision to make a meaningful impact on the technology ecosystem,” said Larry Williams, president and CEO of TAG. “I’m proud to recognize each of the finalists for the 2022 TAG Technology Awards for exceeding that lofty standard of excellence. These businesses have made profound contributions and innovations that inspire all of us.”
Ventimiglia is Georgia State’s first chief innovation officer and has helped shape the university’s use of technology to advance learning, teaching and research. He chairs the University System of Georgia’s CIO Advisory Council and serves on the advisory board for the Educause Learning Initiative. In 2020, he was recognized with a Georgia CIO of the Year award.
“It is an honor to be recognized as Tech Leader of the Year, particularly right now, when technology has become so critical to the success of Georgia State and higher education,” Ventimiglia said.
Before joining Georgia State, Ventimiglia was vice president for innovation and new product development at NCR Corp. He also previously held positions at Dell and IBM.
