Good morning, Chicago.

It’s road construction season. Brace yourself for closures, uneven pavement, and delays.

Drivers this spring and summer can expect paving projects around the city and suburbs and closures around Grant Park during the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in July. And, of course, snarled traffic on the Kennedy Expressway, where the first year of a multiyear construction project is underway.

Along with construction and other roadway projects, drivers will also have to contend with summer concerts and festivals downtown. Here’s an updating list of those so you know when to add a little more time to your commute.
