The community is coming together to support a Clearcreek Township police officer who was shot in the line of duty just a few weeks ago.Hidden Valley Orchards launched a silent auction on Wednesday, July 20 lasting through this weekend to help officer Eric Ney and his family as he recovers from his injuries.“My understanding is he’s recovering well. He was moved to rehab,” owner at Hidden Valley Orchards, Randy Lane said.Lane says Ney is a regular at the brewery.“He comes to check on us and makes sure everything is safe,” Lane said. “Tomorrow is the live auction. So all these silent bids will get to compete against the live bids that happened. So hopefully we’ll get a good turnout and hopefully we’ll get to raise some good money.”Kitchen manager Lydia Shannon says Ney comes to the orchard almost every week. She makes his favorite ice cream and flatbread.“He loves to get ice cream or he loves to stop and get a flatbread and he’s just really close to us,” Shannon said. “He’s just so important to us and I just love the love and everything that has been going on here. So we just hope for a speedy recovery and we hope to see him soon.”The goal from this fundraiser is to raise $15,000. The live auction will take place on Sunday, July 24 at Hidden Valley Orchards.
