INDIANAPOLIS — Four people were injured after a driver crashed into another vehicle during a chase involving Indiana State Police on the west side of Indianapolis early Thursday evening.

ISP said a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a grey Ford Mustang around 5:21 p.m. near 10th Street and Tibbs Avenue for reckless driving and excessive speed.

The driver of the Ford Mustang reportedly ignored the trooper’s instructions to pull over and continued driving, initiating a pursuit until it struck another car at the intersection of 10th Street and Holt Road.

A total of four people were transported to an area hospital with injuries, according to ISP. The driver of the Mustang and a passenger suffered “serious” injuries, according to ISP. Two occupants of the vehicle that was struck also sustained serious injuries.

ISP also confirmed that the driver of the Mustang is facing multiple criminal charges. Detectives remain on the scene alongside crash reconstructionists.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department also assisted at the scene of the crash.
