INDIANAPOLIS — Two Indianapolis police officers were injured in a crash following a chase on the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on the south side after receiving reports that someone had been observed pointing a gun. IMPD has not yet confirmed the exact location where the pursuit began.

IMPD said the suspect vehicle ignored the instructions to pull over and continued driving, initiating a pursuit that concluded in a crash occurring near U.S. 31 and Epler Avenue.

Two police officers were injured in the crash, according to IMPD. Their conditions have not yet been provided. The two officers are receiving treatment at the scene.

The three lanes of southbound U.S. 31 are currently closed.

Police have not yet confirmed the exact number of suspects that were involved but did confirm that at least one suspect has been taken into custody.
