A Yavapai County deputy has died after he was shot by a suspect on Tuesday afternoon in Cordes Lakes. The suspect, who has not yet been identified, is in custody after a standoff with law enforcement officers.
According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred before 2 p.m., in the area of Stagecoach Trail and Red Rock Road.
The deputy died at the HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center in Phoenix surrounded by his family. His name has not been released.
