The Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter will honor Dr. O’Dell Owens with the chapter’s first-ever Clara Barton Award for Humanitarian Service. This award is named after the remarkable founder and first leader of the American Red Cross, Clara Barton and is being presented to Dr. Owens for his life-long commitment to our community through his groundbreaking work in medicine, advocacy for education and his activism for the underserved. The event will be broadcast on WLWT Channel 5 on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. and will be hosted by WLWT News 5 Anchor Megan Mitchell. “We are extremely grateful to WLWT for broadcasting this program highlighting the great work of Dr. Owen and to Megan Mitchell for lending her engaging personality as host,” said Stephanie Byrd, Regional CEO of the Central & Southern Ohio Region of the American Red Cross. The Award for Humanitarian Service will be given out each year in Cincinnati to a community leader who demonstrates great concern for the Tri-State and has made this a better place to live and work. This special event gives the Red Cross an opportunity to recognize community leaders for their service, as well as highlight the work of the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter. The funds generated from sponsors and donors of this event serve as an important source of revenue in supporting the life-saving Red Cross programs in Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Brown, Clermont, Dearborn, Ohio, Boone, Kenton, Campbell and Grant counties.In addition to being broadcast on WLWT, the program will also be streamed on the Give Smart platform.
