Workers at the Howell Ave Starbucks in Oak Creek and the McGill Crossroads Starbucks in Plover recently won NLRB union elections, voting to become the first two unionized Starbucks in the state of Wisconsin. Workers at these locations elected Workers United International Union as their union representative in the workplace.
Stephanie Bloomingdale, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO, released the following statement on these historic union organizing victories in Wisconsin:
“Congratulations to the workers at the Oak Creek Starbucks café on Howell Ave and the McDill Crossroads café in Plover who have made the history books by winning their union elections and becoming the first two unionized Starbucks locations in Wisconsin. These brave workers have claimed their seat at the table at one of the most powerful companies in the world and are inspiring other workers to take action and join the labor movement. It is through collective bargaining that workers can best address workplace issues like scheduling, safety, turnover, and fair wages. With solidarity and togetherness workers are joining together and winning union rights in order to make advances and improve workplaces for all.”
