Window washers dressed as superheroes descend outside windows of Boston children’s hospital

MATT: IS IT HARDER TO DO WITH THE MASK ON? >> YES. YES, SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO TAKE THE MASK OFF A LITTLE BIT JUST TO SEE WHAT YOU DOING, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, IT’S FUN. MATT: WHEN THEY’RE NOT MOONLIGHTING AS SUPERHEROES, HECTOR, JUAN, AND JEAN ARE WINDOW WASHERS FOR PUREVIEW LLC, WHO ARE ALWAYS A WELCOME SIGHT FOR THE PATIENTS HERE. >> SHRINERS WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL KIDS WITH A BURN-RELATED PROBLEM, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY, REGARDLESS OF THEIR INSURANCE STATUS, AND THAT IS WHAT DRIVES A LOT OF THE INTERNATIONAL CARE, WHERE THE KIDS WILL COME FROM OVERSEAS. THEY HAVE NO INSURANCE, THEY CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS. MATT: THE SUPERHEROES JUST AS POPULAR WITH THE STAFF AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE PEOPLE WALKING BY. BUT ULTIMATELY, IT IS ABOUT THE KIDS INSIDE. Window washers dressed as superheroes descend outside windows of Boston children’s hospital

There was a super sighting in Boston on Tuesday as Superman, Batman and Ironman descended outside Shriners Children’s Hospital, bringing joy to young patients inside the building. “We’re just cleaning windows — but some fun for the kids,” window washer Juan Batz said. “Sometimes you got to take the mask off a little bit just to see what you doing, but other than that it’s fun.”When they’re not moonlighting as superheroes. the masked men are window washers for PureView LLC.They are always a welcome sight for the patients here at Shriners. “Shiners will take care of all kids with a burn-related problem — regardless of their ability to pay, regardless of their insurance status. That is what drives a lot of the international care, where the kids will come from overseas, and they have no insurance. They can’t afford to pay for this,” said Dr. Rob Sheridan, chief of staff at the hospital.The superheroes hope to bring a moment of magic to brighten patients’ days as they continue to heal.“The little kid was just looking at us,” window washer Jean Edzer said. “I waved. Knowing the kind of work they’re doing here, it means a lot to me because I got kids myself.”
