Fourth of July weekend is this weekend and several cities in the Jackson metropolitan area are planning fireworks celebrations.
Below is a round-up of fireworks celebrations scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend to help you celebrate Independence Day.
1. Smith Wills Stadium
The City of Jackson will celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks show at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Smith Wills Stadium.
Fireworks will begin promptly at 9 p.m.
The Fourth of July fireworks celebration will be paid for by “funding secured from outside sources to ensure the annual event for Jackson residents and families will continue as it has for years.”
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department recently announced it had obtained the necessary funding to put on the “Safe Summer Firework Extravaganza” to celebrate Independence Day.
“There are no limits on fireworks this year,” according to the Jackson Fire Department.
Eleven sponsors funded the effort. Dharma Professional Services will again partner with the City to put on the event,” the city said.
Food vendors will be on-site and a kids zone will be open from 5 to 7 p.m.
Glass bottles will not be allowed inside the stadium

2. Liberty Park
The city of Madison will have a Fourth of July fireworks show on Sunday, July 3, from 4 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
Liberty Park is located at 100 Liberty Park Drive, Madison
Gates will open at 4 p.m. and the event will commence at 5 p.m.
The city is asking residents who will be in attendance to bring their own chairs and blankets for the event. At 5:15 p.m. the Southern Groove band will start followed by the opening of food trucks at 6 p.m.
Shortly after, the mayor will give a welcome, and the national anthem will begin at 7:05 p.m.
Fireworks will begin promptly at 9:15 p.m.

3. Old Trace Park
The Barnett Reservoir Foundation will host its 11th annual Independence Day fireworks shows at Old Trace Park on Saturday, July 2, in Ridgeland, and at Lakeshore Park, 1112 N. Shore Parkway, Brandon.
The event will be co-hosted by the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District.
Gates open for both events at 5 p.m. Saturday and the entertainment begins at 6 p.m.
This year, Individual fireworks will not be allowed within city limits according to the Ridgeland Fire Department. Also, selling personal fireworks within city limits is illegal.
This year’s annual event will have live music featuring Brian Smith and Scott Strickland at Old Trace Park and Temperance Babcock, and Cameron Yates at Lakeshore Park at 6 p.m., according to a recent Facebook post by Pearl River Water Supply District.
Activities will commence with a flyby of vintage military aircraft by the Commemorative Air Force, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem at both parks.
Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. at both parks.
Residents and visitors attending with children will have access to kid’s zones at both events.
Food trucks and beverages including beer will be available. Outside beer, coolers and food will not be allowed. Dogs are also welcomed at both events.

4. Trace Way Park
The city of Clinton will have its annual Fourth of July Family Fireworks Extravaganza at Traceway Park on Monday, July 4.
Traceway Park is located at 200 Soccer Row, Clinton.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. Monday and festivities will begin at 5 p.m.
Residents will not be allowed to use their own personal fireworks within city limits this year, according to the Clinton Fire Department. Also, selling fireworks inside the Clinton city limits is illegal.
Visitors and residents are encouraged to come early and celebrate with family and friends with a picnic or relax and enjoy the entertainment.
Tents, coolers of non-alcoholic beverages and chairs are welcome.
Fireworks will commence at 9:30 p.m.
