A man opened fire outside a hair salon in the Koreatown section of Dallas Wednesday afternoon, hitting three Korean women, according to police.

The women, who have not been publicly identified, suffered non-life threatening wounds, the Dallas Police Department said.

The suspect, described as a Black man between 5′7″ an 5′10″ with a thin build, curly medium length hair and a connecting beard, walked into the hair salon around 2:20 p.m. and began firing, then fled in a maroon minivan.

The victims, reportedly the salon owner, an employee and a customer, according to WFAA, were transported to the hospital are expected to be OK.

Police released this image of a suspect leaving the scene of a shooting in Dallas that authorities said left three Korean women wounded.

“When he came in, he shouted something that we haven’t figured out yet, and then he started shooting,” Dallas Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell said during a press conference Wednesday night, according Fox 4.

Mitchell said there are no early indications that this was a hate crime, but that police have not yet ruled that out.

A nearby shop owner told Fox 4 that there had been a dispute earlier in the day at the salon when the stylists told a Black woman they didn’t know how to cut her hair, but it’s unclear if that’s related to the shooting.

A spokesperson for the Dallas Police Department did not have updates when reached by the Daily News Thursday.

Wednesday’s shooting comes barely a year after the Atlanta spa shootings, during which 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long fatally shot eight people, including six Asian women. He later claimed he was suffering from a sex addiction and blamed the spas.

Anyone with the salon shooting is asked to contact Detective Timothy Johnston at 214-671-3523 or timothy.johnston@dallascityhall.com. A $5,000 reward is being offer for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest and indictment. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 214-373-TIPS.
