Live music, ax thowing and a whiskey tasting are all on tap for the annual CelticFest Mississippi this weekend.
The 31st annual celebration of “all things Irish and Scottish” takes place Friday and Saturday at Lakeshore Park at the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Brandon.
Hours on Friday are 5-10 p.m. and the evening includes a petting zoo, shopping and dancing. Those interested in ax throwing can do so at 6 p.m. but must sign a waiver. General admission is $8 on Friday and parking is free.
The fun continues from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday with more music and dancing, sheepherding dog demonstrations and competitive highland games. On Saturday, tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for ages 62 and up, military (active duty/retired with ID) and students age 14 through college.

If spicy foods are your thing, head over to the second annual summer celebration at The District. Don’t miss the hot sauce competition at 1 p.m. There will be dunk tanks, live music and visits with costumed characters for kids.

Let loose at Funtime Skateland
Everyone can come out and enjoy music while skating with family and friends. Ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.
When: noon to 4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Saturday
Where: Funtime Skateland, 123 Legion Lake Road, Pearl
Admission: Cost is $8 per person for the afternoon session and $12 for the evening session. Get $2 off if you bring your own skates.
