There will be spaces for training, research, conferences, seminars and all sorts of amenities. Additionally, the district will host dedicated office spaces, shared desk workspaces and educational facilities located here. The building is designed to offset all its embodied carbon emissions from operation and construction, making this a net zero-carbon district.

The urban tech institute will also be located here, teaching tomorrow’s urban tech leaders. What is urban tech? This is a technology designed for the challenges of urban living. By integrating tech right into city living, better public spaces can be created.

Meanwhile, estimations predict that almost 70% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050. And by 2030, it is predicted that there will be 41 mega-cities. These are cities that have populations of more than 10 million. Therefore, cities need to find ways to integrate sustainability, nature and human comfort into designs. Urban tech centers like this serve as both an example and a place to do research to find more solutions for city living.

There are also spaces for urban farming. Here, food-to-table crops will be grown. Solar farms will provide further power for the district. The atriums located throughout the design are climate-controlled through a design that then allows for evaporative cooling that uses fresh air. Every part of the design is optimized for humans and nature to co-exist.

The indoor lighting and temperatures of the building can be adjusted based on many different variables, including the number of people in the room. All the buildings have sensors to detect noise, motion, temperature, moisture, fire and smoke as well as other data.

Moreover, the interior space uses a biophilic design. Through this concept, nature is brought into workspaces to create a healthier environment. Many spaces are open for accessibility. This includes areas for lunch, informal meetings and work. Plus, landscaping includes trees and plants to create green areas around the tech spaces.

By promoting green jobs and creating a living laboratory of sorts, this urban tech center will help create a future that’s more sustainable and better for future leaders and the environment.
