Guests will be transported to New Orleans during this one-of-a-kind event with French Quarter-style backdrops and Mardi Gras food favorites, like gumbo, frog legs, beignets, and king cake, as well as Bourbon Street festivities including live painting, stilt walkers, magicians, eating contests and even a Mardi Gras Float.

The Angry Crab Shack Southwest Cajun Festival will take place on Saturday, February 26 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dr. AJ Chandler Park (178 E. Commonwealth Ave., Chandler, AZ 85225).

“Whether it’s the smell of the seafood boil, the sounds of our brass bands, the thrill of our live gators or the thousands of beads being thrown, we want you to feel like you are transported right inside NOLA!” said David Horen, Director – Events at Forty8 Live!

“With thousands upon thousands of true Cajun Fest fanatics, we are so excited to once again be delivering our first-in-class Mardi Gras themed event to the heart of the East Valley!” said Mike O’Donnell, Director – Partnerships at Forty8 Live!

Seafood lovers can feast on a giant seafood boil created by Angry Crab Shack. Other standout items include New Orleans favorites such as po boys, hush puppies, catfish and alligator bites. Captain Morgan will host ‘The Swamp’ – a drink tent complete with hurricanes, frozen daiquiris and other Mardi Gras-themed cocktails.

Family-friendly entertainment will include the “Prince of Zydeco” headliner C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band (son of legendary Clifton Chenier, who invented the style of music we know today as Zydeco and the first Creole musician to be recognized with a Grammy Award), live alligator petting zoo, jugglers, brass marching bands and a kids’ zone featuring a kids’ Mardi Gras mask making tent. Costumes are encouraged.

A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to Greater Cause Foundation, which provides critical funding to a variety of Arizona causes including the Children’s Cancer Dream Network, Military Assistance Mission, 100 Club of Arizona, Salt River Wild Horse Management Group, Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank and Heidi’s Village.
