The Tennessee Titans gave the Chicago Bears a victory in Week 1.

Yes, you can say “gave” because the Bears offense did almost nothing. Chicago ended with just 147 total yards of offense and rookie Caleb Williams had a bad game. He completed just 14 of 29 passes for 92 yards.

Still, the Bears were able to score 24 points thanks to repeated mistakes by Will Levis and the Titans. A punt was blocked and returned for a score, Levis fumbled to set the Bears up with great field position, and Levis threw a pick-six.

Ultimately, the Titans couldn’t get out of their own way and it cost them a victory.

  • The Titans lost the turnover battle (3:1) and that proved to be the difference.
  • The Titans’ offensive line allowed 3.0 sacks and eight tackles for loss.
  • Tennessee went just 3-for-14 on third downs.
  • The leading receiver was Calvin Ridley, who had just 50 yards.
  • The Titans also had eight penalties for 50 yards.

When Will Levis threw a pick-6 to Tyrique Stevenson in the fourth quarter to give Chicago a 24-17 lead. Sure, there were still over seven minutes to play, but all the momentum was sapped at that point.

And no, the Titans never recovered.

  • RB Tony Pollard: Pollard had a nice Titans’ debut, taking 16 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. Pollard also caught three passes for 12 yards.
  • TE Chig Okonkwo: Okonkwo had the team’s lone receiving touchdown. He only finished with two catches for 15 yards, but on a bad day for the Titans’ offense, Okonkwo was a bright spot.
  • EDGE Harold Landry: Landry was all over the field on Sunday. The edge rusher collected six tackles, 1.0 sack, and two QB hits.

Dillon Radunz was the lone Titan to leave the game with an injury. The starting guard suffered a rib injury in the second half and originally came back in before leaving again.

The team gave Radunza a “questionable” designation, and Andrew Rupcich took over in his place. Hopefully, Radunz’s injury isn’t serious and the former second-round pick will be back next weekend. The Titans’ O-line struggled even with Radunz, so missing his presence would be huge.

Head coach Brian Callahan will hold a Zoom call with the team’s beat writers on Monday afternoon before a few players are also made available.

The Titans will return to practice on Wednesday ahead of a Week 2 game against the New York Jets at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday afternoon.
