What: Young Athletes is an innovative program designed to introduce children ages 2 to 7 with intellectual disabilities to the world of sport and play. Young Athletes also offers families, teachers, caregivers, and community members the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.

The traditional Young Athletes program introduces basic sports skills, like running, kicking, and throwing. Look for future sessions utilizing this format. This session incorporates the principles of the traditional Young Athletes program with a twist… the use of Strider and Adaptive Bikes!

Strider Bikes have no pedals. The bikes and helmets are provided (but if you have your own, please bring them to class). Previous bike riding experience is not required.

Adaptive Bikes are upright adaptive tricycles designed to introduce children to biking. These can be a great option for our Young Athletes who aren’t ready for Strider Biking!

When: July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 Aug 5 2025

Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Healthy Athlete Volunteers Needed

Annually, Healthy Athlete Clinics are conducted at our State Summer Games. Clinical Directors and volunteers complete health assessments across 5 disciplines. This vital work helps athletes stay at peak health by identifying potential issues. We then assist athletes with connecting to follow-up care. Each discipline completes an average of 60 evals during this 1-day clinic.

Both skilled and unskilled volunteers for Special Smiles and Fit Feet are needed and appreciated.

Clinic Details:
