HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss football has landed its first commitment in the Class of 2024.
Madison-Ridgeland quarterback John White announced his decision on Sunday night, continuing USM’s recent hot streak on the recruiting trail.
White, as of yet unrated by 247Sports, also held offers from Liberty, Toledo, FAU and Alabama A&M.
As a sophomore in 2021, White led Madison-Ridgeland to a 6A Mississippi state title, posting 273 passing yards for three scores and 42 yards rushing in the championship game.
Listed at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, White racked up3,965 passing yards and 39 touchdowns in 2021, according to his Twitter profile.

His sophomore season film illustrates an ability to make plays with his feet, too, stepping outside the pocket to extend plays on several occasions.
White is the eighth prospect to commit to Southern Miss in the month of June, and the sixth to extend a pledge to coach Will Hall and his staff since June 19.
