MANILA, Philippines — JD Cagulangan’s best game yet went in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) for naught as SJ Belangel and the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus escaped with a thrilling 76-74 win over Suwon KT Sonicboom on Thursday at Daegu Gymnasium.
Andrew Nicholson beat the buzzer with a game-winning fadeaway jump shot to carry Daegu past Suwon after a neck-and-neck duel.

Nicholson finished with 34 points as the Pegasus rose to a 17-13 record tied with Changwon LG Sakers in third place.
Belangel, who faced Cagulangan in two epic UAAP Finals in Seasons 84 and 85, finished with 15 points, four assists, and four rebounds in his first duel with his ex-collegiate rival in three years.

Cagulangan, who only joined his team last week, finished with 15 points on top of six assists, four rebounds, and three steals, but the Sonicboom slid to a 15-14 record.
Meanwhile, Juan Gomez de Liaño didn’t suit up in Seoul SK Knights’ their ninth consecutive win after beating Ethan Alvano and Wonju DB, 74-65.

Despite the absence of Gomez De Liaño, the Knights remained the hottest team with a league-leading 24-6 record.
Reigning KBL MVP Alvano had 14 points, five assists, and three rebounds but Wonju dropped to sixth place with a 14-16 card.
