A 19-year-old Sierra Vista woman is facing charges after she reportedly tried to smuggle drugs by concealing then “within her body” earlier this month.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, the Street Crimes Unit conducted a search warrant on Annyssa Sanches after she crossed the United States-Mexico border in Nogales.

Sanchez was transported to a Tucson area hospital where it was discovered she had three packages concealed within her body. The packages held blue, M/30 pills which are often counterfeit and contain fentanyl.

Sanchez admitted to crossing the U.S./Mexico border for fentanyl multiple times in the past and returning to Sierra Vista where she would then distribute the pills.

The three packages held approximately 795 pills in total with an approximate street value of $8,000.00.
