Paradox Interactive announced its plans to release a remastered version of the Shadowrun Trilogy. The series, which takes place in a distinct world that mixes fantasy and cyberpunk themes, will be arriving on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on June 21, 2022.

The Shadowrun Trilogy will include the original Shadowrun Returns, which was the first Kickstarter-funded game to launch after raising over $1 million. In addition, it will feature the expanded editions of sequels Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut and Shadowrun: Hong Kong – Extended Edition.

Shadowrun Trilogy Screens (from Nintendo Direct, September 2021)

The Shadowrun series of tactical turn-based RPGs hasn’t seen a new installment since 2015, when Paradox Interactive released Hong Kong, so its arrival on consoles will be paired with technical improvements including “upscaled graphics, improved performance, and controller-optimized gameplay,” as said by Paradox Interactive in a press release.

The Shadowrun Trilogy was originally only announced for the Nintendo Switch, so this announcement marks its addition to other next-gen consoles.

Originally starting as a tabletop RPG, the Shadowrun series has been running for over 30 years. We enjoyed Shadowrun Returns, praising it for its plot twists and isometric style. We also loved Shadowrun: Hong Kong — despite its lack of new features, we called it “challenging, well-written, and filled with memorable visuals and audio.”
