MANILA, Philippines—A resolution congratulating and commending the Philippine delegation on its “outstanding performance” in the 31st Southeast Asian Games has been filed in the Senate.
Senator Lito Lapid on Monday filed PS Resolution No. 1007, which notes how the entire Philippine delegation “performed remarkably and commendably” during the SEA Games held from May 12 to 22 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The resolution highlighted that Philippine athletes were able to bag a total of 52 gold medals in the sporting event, which featured 40 sports across 526 events and was participated by 11 nations with over 5,467 athletes.
“The stellar performance of the performance of the entire Philippine delegation, despite the difficulties in the preparation and training amid a pandemic, deserved the highest praise, recognition, and commendation for bringing pride and inspiration to the Filipino people and for showing to the world the unrelenting spirit of Filipino excellence,” the resolution read.
The Philippines had amassed 52 gold medals, 70 silvers, and 104 bronzes for fourth place in the 31st SEA Games medal tally.
