MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines is guaranteed of a gold medal in pool at the 31st Southeast Asian Games after Carlo Biado and Johann Chua on Tuesday arranged an all-Filipino final in men’s 9-ball singles.

Biado barged into the final round after repeating over Singapore ace Aloysius Yapp, 9-7, in the semifinal at Ha Dong Gymnasium in Vietnam.

The 38-year-old Biado also beat Yapp, 13-8, to win the prestigious US Open title in September of last year in comeback fashion.

Chua, meanwhile, had a relatively easier time in the semis after turning back another Singaporean in Lian Han Toh, 9-3.

Biado and Chua were partners in the men’s 9-ball doubles event in the 2019 Games in Manila where they finished with the bronze medal.
