MANILA, Philippines—Trisha Genesis is turning pro as she joins Akari in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference in October.

The Power Chargers announced their acquisition of the prolific outside spiker on Saturday.

The 5-foot-7 spiker from Laguna attended the tryouts last week and became the third player to be unveiled by Akari with with Michelle Cobb and Jho Maraguinot, under head coach Jorge Souza de Brito.

With Genesis set to debut for Akari in the third conference, it means she can no longer return for Adamson in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

The 22-year-old hitter still has at least three playing years left until she decided to move on to the next chapter of her career.

Genesis was Season 84’s No. 6 scorer with a total of 184 points with the Lady Falcons falling a game short of reaching the final four after losing to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in a playoff.

Genesis won the 2019 PVL Collegiate Conference MVP and led Adamson to a preseason championship.

Adamson, on the other hand, will rely on Lucille Almonte, Rizza Cruz, Lorene Toring, and other young players under new coach Jerry Yee for Season 85.
