Photos: “Chronic Town” concert brings star-studded lineup to celebrate R.E.M.

Thursday night’s “Chronic Town” concert at the Coca-Cola Roxy celebrated the 40th anniversary of the classic R.E.M. EP that was released 18 months after the band’s formation and put the landmark group in front of a national audience.

The concert was staged Wednesday night at the famed 40 Watt Club in Athens, then rolled into Atlanta on Thursday. Performers included R.E.M. co-founders Mike Mills and Peter Buck playing in their band The Baseball Project. Also on hand were Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes, Darius Rucker, Lenny Kaye, Kevn Kinney, David Ryan Harris and Puddles Pity Party.
