MANILA, Philippines-Three-time defending champion Arellano University leaned on Princess Bello to turn back Jose Rizal, 25-18, 19-25, 25-18, 25-19, Saturday to take solo second spot in the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball at Paco Arena.

Bello, the graduating open spiker, hammered 23 points for the Lady Chiefs, who moved to half a game behind unbeaten leader St. Benilde after improving to 4-1.

“If we didn’t make the right adjustment, maybe we would still be playing until now,” said Arellano coach Obet Javier.

“Their (Lady Bombers) middles were very good, we almost never able to block any of them,” he added in Filipino.

The Lady Bombers absorbed their second straight defeat for a 2-3 record.
