MANILA, Philippines — The Farm Fresh Foxies have introduced former NCAA MVP Mycah Go as part of the newest Premier Volleyball League team amid her recovery from an ACL injury.
The Foxies on Sunday launched their social media accounts and welcomed Go from the College of Saint Benilde.
Although the NCAA Season 97 MVP is still undergoing rehabilitation for her injured knee, Farm Fresh still trusted her to be part of its first PVL stint.
“I’m still in the process of recovering pero it shows na Farm Fresh really wants me and my teammates kasi they are still taking me in,” said Go, who led the Lady Blazers to a perfect title run last year before suffering a knee injury prior to Season 98.
The St. Benilde outside spiker will remain on the sidelines but vows to help the Foxies in any way she can.
“For now, I help around sa tasks outside playing but paunti-unti din, sumasali na ako sa training. That’s what I appreciate about them. Hindi ako minamadali. And malaki ang tiwala nila na makakabalik ako,” she said.
Farm Fresh will be handled by back-to-back NCAA champion coach Jerry Yee as Inquirer sources revealed that the expansion club will be composed of the core of St. Benilde with outside spiker Gayle Pascual also playing as seen in the photo shoot.
Go, Pascual, and the Lady Blazers will receive special guest license (SGL) from the Games and Amusement Board, which is given to amateur players who want to play in professional leagues on a limited basis, as the NCAA allows its athletes to see action in the pro ranks as long as they have SGL.
The team will reveal its other players in the coming days.
Farm Fresh is one of the three new PVL teams with Gerflor and Foton, who will be joining defending champion Creamline, Petro Gazz, F2 Logistics, PLDT, Chery Tiggo, Cignal, Choco Mucho, and Akari.
The Invitationals will separate the 11 teams into two groups with the top two squads advancing to the round-robin semifinals, where a pair of foreign clubs will join the competition.
