Cawthorn’s partial paralysis is the result of a fiery 2014 North Carolina car crash, where he said his friend Brad Ledford, who was driving the vehicle carrying the two teens, left him to die. Ledford has since told media outlets he actually risked his own life to pull Cawthorn out of the burning vehicle and carry him to safety.
