INDIANANPOLIS — Significant flooding has been reported across central Indiana this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, a flood warning is in effect for more than 30 counties, including Marion, Shelby, Hendricks, Bartholomew, Hancock, Johnson, Morgan, Rush and Shelby.
In a special weather statement it sent around 12:37 p.m. Saturday, the NWS indicated rivers, creeks, streams and low-lying, flood-prone areas may be impacted by significant rainfall. The NWS also reported that some roads may be closed because of flooding and high water.
As of 12:33 p.m., NWS rain gauges indicated between two and 4.5 inches of rain had fallen since Friday at noon. More rain is expected through Sunday morning, possibly more than an inch, per the NWS.
