INDIANAPOLIS — Drivers on the northwest side of Indianapolis will be impacted by lane restrictions and closures on I-465 starting Tuesday evening.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, crews are expected to restrict I-465 northbound/eastbound to two lanes between 86th St. and Michigan Road. The eastbound ramp to I-465 eastbound from I-865 will also be closed. The lane restriction and closure is expected to begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials said the lane restriction and the closure will allow crews to complete a bridge pour. The closures are expected to be in place for a week and be removed by 6 a.m. on June 4, weather permitting.

The department said the official detour for this work is I-865 southbound to 86th St. to I-465 northbound.

“INDOT reminds drivers to consider worker safety by slowing down, using caution and avoiding distractions when traveling in and near work zones,” the department said. “All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.”

This comes after the department announced earlier this month that a large portion of I-465 southbound will close for a month for an upcoming project at the end of May. This project will hut down I-465 southbound between I-70 and I-65 along the southeast corridor through the end of June.
