Green living and city living meet in these 5 buildings

After more than a century of dumping toxins into the air and water, humans are finally embracing concepts that sustained the species for tens of thousands of years. It is clear that people and nature must live in harmony. And these five developments showcase just how stunning this type of living can be.

The Flatiron House isn’t a single house, it has 44 residences. This project is two distinct buildings connected by a shared interior garden. There is a self-watering irrigation system that feeds water to the plants and covered terraces. Plants cover the 222-square-feet latticework that creates the balconies for these residences. This is literally green living, and it is a stunning creation.

The Brooklyn building known as 11 Hoyt has an elevated private park that is truly unlike anything else in New York City. The building itself encompasses almost a city block and includes areas for exercise and relaxation. There are native flowers and trees, lawn areas, a yoga area and fitness deck, an outdoor spa pool and a butterfly-themed playground.

One Essex Crossing is a 14-story luxury condo building in New York City’s Lower East Side. There is a garden on the sixth floor, with spaces for grilling and relaxing. There is a wraparound private roof terrace, a truly breathtaking feature that is open to all residents and offers plenty of room for all residents to enjoy the amazing features.
