The elevator in the Hughes County Courthouse in Pierre is currently not operational.
County Manager Kevin Hipple says anyone who has difficulty with stairs is encouraged to do as much business as they can by phone or online. He says if you are mobility challenged, please contact the county office or court service office you have business with before your visit to see if there is an alternative way to resolve your issue.
Hipple says the parts to fix the elevator are ordered, but the delivery date is unknown. As a result, the elevator will remain inoperable until further notice.
Hughes County apologizes for the inconvenience to its customers.
