Footage shared on social media showed people fleeing in panic as gunfire echoed through a Copenhagen mall.
Police have confirmed that several people were killed at the Field’s shopping centre in the south of the city.
A 22-year-old Danish man has been arrested in connection with the attack.
Copenhagen’s police chief said he could not rule out the attack being an act of terrorism.
