LATEST May 13, 8:50 a.m. Southwest Airlines reported just after 8:30 a.m. that internet connectivity was restored and it’s working to “resume normal operations.”
Southwest said it canceled four flights to SFO Friday morning due to the outage since gate space was taken up by delayed outbound flights.
“We have issued a waiver for affected SFO customers to allow for rebooking flexibility,” Southwest said.
May 13, 8:30 a.m. San Francisco International Airport reported “partial network issues” at Terminal 1 on Friday morning, impacting ticket counters at Southwest, JetBlue, and American airlines.
SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel said the airlines are using backup methods to check people in.
Southwest Airlines issued a statement on the outage: “There’s currently an airport-wide internet connectivity outage at SFO. We’re utilizing backup procedures as the airport works to restore connectivity.”
The Federal Aviation Administration didn’t report delays at SFO on its website, but some passengers at the airport said on social media that there are delays.
“If you have a flight out of #SFO and on southwest today there is major delays,” a Twitter user wrote. “Terminal 1 system is down. Flight was supposed to leave at 5:25 this morning. Still no word on when it will be up, it’s been down for the past 4 hours.”
